For a long time George Kuzmycz has been working at the US Department of Energy, and since 1994 he was at the head of mutual activity in the frames of MPC&A program aimed to increase safety of nuclear materials at different sites in Ukraine, which materials could be used for weapon production. Establishment of Training Center for physical protection, accounting and control of nuclear material at Kiev Institute for Nuclear Research has been started at 1997. After untimely death of George Kuzmycz in car incident during his business trip in Ukraine it was decided to name the Center in his memory – George Kuzmycz Training Center.
